Van Epps Sneak Peak

November 29th, 2007 | Children, Families

Even though it was cold freezing outside, this session was so fun!  This family took advantage of a rare moment when they were all together to get some family photos.  Really, it took four plane rides from all over the US, to get them all together!  They were so sweet and funny…and extremely good natured about the cold weather.

When we asked the twins to give their sister a kiss, this is what we got….isn’t it hilarious?!  But then check out the sweet look on her face as she gazes at her brother.

The boys were very interested in taking some photos with my camera.  Here’s a great shot taken by one of them (I can’t remember which one because my camera was passed around quite a bit :)

Making a good situation out of a bad one

November 26th, 2007 | Children, Families

Okay, so not only is it the end of the busy season because the holidays are approaching.  It is also the end because of the recent ridiciously cold weather!  Because of the temperatures, two out of five of last weekend’s scheduled sessions had to cancel.  It’s hard to get good *outdoor* photos when your teeth won’t stop chattering!  :)

Well, one of my best friends since junior high had scheduled a session for family photos since her sister and family from Florida would be here visiting.  Definitely didn’t want to cancel that one!  However, with two little girls, there was no way we could do it outside.  We settled on some indoor photos in Union Station in Kansas City.  If you haven’t been there, it’s really amazing, and thankfully has some balconies with really great lighting.  We didn’t have much for background, but we made the best out of a bad situation.

I truly love this family.  Heather and I grew up together and I’m so glad to still call her my friend…and her family is just amazing.

On this last one, I was playing with a new funky look.  I told Heather I was just taking a test shot to make sure my settings were correct.  It really was just a test shot, but it was so good, I had to use it.  She’s such a hottie!  :)

Random stuff…

November 26th, 2007 | Personal

Back to the Monday morning grind.  Actually, the busy season is starting to come to a close for me.  I have two sessions left to proof and one more to shoot today and then it’s time to play catch up.  My house has seriously taken a backseat to the business.  Laundry needs to be done, toilets need to be scrubbed and bills need to be paid.  Ahhh, the good stuff!

Just wanted to take a few moments to catch up on some blogging.  I do have one session to post, but I’ll leave that for later today.  First of all, let me say Happy Birthday to my Dad!  And just because I love you so much, Dad, let me post a cute photo of you.

And here’s another I found of my dad…probably from the 80’s…dad and his camera.

I also wanted to say Happy Birthday to my sweet boy.  Jake turned 7 a couple weeks ago and I was too busy to share birthday photos.  I know, bad Mom!  We took Jake and Cody and two of Jake’s friends to Power Play in Kansas City.  Let me tell ya, this place is a 7 year old’s dream…go carts, laser tag, bumper cars, arcade video games, cosmic golf, etc.

And finally…Thanksgiving.  Sadly, I didn’t take any photos during our visit with family…not of family anyway.  When I got home to download my images, I realized that the only photos I’d taken were of my uncle’s new hunting dog.  I know, what’s wrong with me, where are my priorities?  I ask myself that everyday.  :)   Here’s Bailey.  All I can remember is that she’s a German hunting dog…can’t remember what kind.  I think it starts with a "D".  If you know, leave me a comment.  I wanted to share a photo of her because she’s so unusual looking.  Her face has whiskers like a schnauzer, but she looks to have the body of a lab, maybe.  I don’t know…I’m certainly not a dog expert.  All I know is that she’s cute!  Meet Bailey.

I’m no expert either, but she kind of looks like a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, but I don’t think that’s a German breed! Maybe she’s a German Wirehaired Pointer? I can’t really tell the difference between the two breeds! :)
